Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) is required for a tour to Tibet in addition to a Chinese visa.

Foreign passport holders need to apply for a TTP. All foreign passport holders can get a TTP through any qualified travel agency except diplomats, journalists and government officials who must go through the Tibet Foreign Affairs Office. All foreign passport holders can only travel to Tibet by way of reception through a qualified travel agency and are not allowed to travel by themselves.

The conference organizers will simplify the process for you so that you will not need to individually contact a travel agency. To apply for a TTP, you will need to supply color photographs of both your passport (the main and signature pages) and your Chinese visa which need to be clear and complete.

For the attendee, holding a foreign passport, who intends to participate in the interior Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (IQTP) trip (Group A) after the conference, there are two steps which need to be taken to obtain a TTP:

Step 1: Upload a clear and complete color photograph of your passport (the main and signature pages) through the 'Upload' botton below when you have completed the conference and fieldtrip registration. The conference organizer needs to make an initial list and notify the relevant authorities by January-31, 2022.

Step 2: When you successfully obtain your Chinese visa and if you still plan to participate in the field trip to Tibet, please upload a clear and complete color photograph of the Chinese visa through the 'Upload' botton below. The conference organizer needs to complete the final list of participants and proceed with the application for the TTP for you. The deadline for Step 2 will be February-29, 2022.
